Uses

It seems that drones are here to stay, as the range of services they offer is constantly expanding. In addition to taking photos and videos – with which they have been directly connected – they are also used: by logistics companies to transport goods on the same day. From farmers, who can see through the high-resolution cameras possible diseases in their plants, to take measures in time. In addition, drones are valuable for the transport of medicines, but also for the inspection of infrastructure, for emergency situations – civil protection, fire protection, security, etc.

Transportation of medical supplies to remote areas

An important moment for “Drops” was the participation and support of the first drone flight beyond visual contact (BVLOS – Beyond Visual Line of Sight) between Kos and Pserimos for the transport of medical supplies in September 2023. This means that the drone was not within the pilot’s field of vision.

This is the first BVLOS licensed flight by the Civil Aviation Authority in Greece for the transport of medical equipment, which marked the beginning of long-range autonomous flights to provide services in remote areas.

“Drops” developed the necessary infrastructure for the safe take-off and landing of the aircraft. With the technical know-how he has in the regulatory framework of flight safety, he created the procedures (operations manual) in accordance with the European regulations” emphasized Mrs. Tsioutsiou, adding: “Thanks to the valuable assistance of “Drops”, the drone operator Probotek, a member of Unisystems managed to obtain the corresponding license from the APA. This success highlights the critical importance of the know-how and experience of “Drops”.
