Pskov airport on the night of August 30 was attacked by drones. The governor of the region, Mikhail Vedernikov, confirmed that the Ministry of Defense was repelling the blow. “Since the beginning of the incident, I have personally been on the spot. According to preliminary information, there are no victims. The scale of the destruction is being specified,” he said in his Telegram channel.
Four Il-76 aircraft were damaged in Pskov following a drone attack on the airfield, TASS reports with reference to emergency services. Vedernikov promised to give detailed information when the meeting of the special operational headquarters is over.
Eyewitnesses were the first to report several explosions and a fire at the Pskov airport on August 29 at regarding 23.50 Moscow time. Videos posted on social media show shots fired into the sky, fire and smoke. An hour and a half following the first explosion, social media users once more began to talk regarding loud sounds over the city.
Also following 1:00 Moscow time on August 30, social networks began to report loud sounds in Bryansk. TASS, citing aviation services, reports that at the moment the airspace over Pskov and the region is limited for aircraft overflights.
This is not the first attack on the Pskov region. For example, on May 27, an explosion occurred in the Nevelsk district, as a result of damage, the administrative task of the oil pipeline near the village of Litvinovo was received. The attack was qualified by the Investigative Committee as a terrorist act.
In August, drone attacks were repeatedly recorded in Moscow, Moscow region, Crimea, as well as in Belgorod, Bryansk and other regions.
Earlier, members of the Federation Council developed a bill that proposes to ban the distribution of photos and videos of shelling sites, drone attacks and other information that allows identifying the type of special weapons, their location, launch or flight path. The parliamentarians promised to introduce the initiative in the autumn.
