Pfäffikon SZ: Drone in Alpamare upsets father of girl (5)

A father is annoyed because a video shoot by a food influencer began at Alpamare before a children’s swimming course was finished. The Alpamare management weighs things down.

  • The well-known influencer Steve Merson invited 200 of his followers to a private event at Alpamare.

  • When the crew started a drone, a swimming course with children was taking place: the father of a girl was annoyed and feared that his daughter was being filmed.

  • According to the manager of Alpamare, this was not the case. He speaks of a misunderstanding.

The video shoot by the well-known food influencer Steve Merson, which took place on Saturday morning at the Alpamare in Pfäffikon SZ, was preceded by lengthy planning: According to the organizers, 2,500 people had registered to take part, and 200 of them were ultimately able to take part. Merson had reserved the entire park exclusively for himself and his community from 9 a.m.

On Saturday morning the time had come – but when the event began, there was apparently an unpleasant scene, as reported by a visitor who wished to remain anonymous. He had booked a private swimming course for his daughter and accompanied the five-year-old there. When influencer Steve Merson and his followers came into the bathroom, the little one and at least one other child were still in the water.

Mutual accusations

Then, according to the 40-year-old, a drone rose in the bathroom and circled near the pool. “Me and the swimming instructor warned the crew not to film, but we were told it would be edited out.” The influencer reacted irritably when he spoke to him. The father is annoyed: “The crew was unreasonable, and so I had to stop the swimming course early before it escalated.” You never know where the pictures might end up. “If we had known that, we wouldn’t have gone.”

Merson counters that he sought a conversation, but the father in question appeared “very unfriendly and insulting.” He had prepared the event for a long time, but apparently the man was not informed about it. Mike from the Merson team also says: “We filmed in such a way that the area where the swimming course took place was never in the picture. We’re not allowed to film anyone who doesn’t give their consent anyway.” All of Merson’s followers would have signed a consent to this. Shooting the corresponding shot only took around a minute. He asked the man to let the children get out of the water for a moment, but he refused.

Alpmare boss: “Unfortunate misunderstanding”

On the part of Alpamare, managing director Julian Lämmler reassures: “It is an unfortunate misunderstanding. We thought the swimming course and the event would go hand in hand.” There was then a brief overlap and the drone was used too early.

The drone didn’t film the swimming course, but he was still assured that he would be able to see all the videos from the private event ahead of time. The affected father ended the swimming course. He will contact the man again afterwards.
