Driving licences: When do they change – What drivers need to know

In particular, the old pink driving license is valid until January 19, 2033 and until the driver turns 65.

Drivers can issue their new license in two ways. One is online via gov.gr and with just a few clicks and the other – in person for those who are not familiar with technology – at KEP or the competent services of each Region.

Through gov.gr

The driver will need:

-fill in the personal access codes to Taxisnet

– to attach a photo and a sample of the signature (the possibility of using myphoto is given)

-the appropriate receipt (the application leads to its issuance and payment)

– to fill in the e-mail (e-mail) and telephone

Once the process is complete, you will receive an informative email.

The license will be collected by him or an authorized representative from the Region, handing over the old-style driver’s license.

Justificatory

The necessary supporting documents are:

– Request to change an old diploma

– Simple photocopy of police ID or valid Greek passport or individual health record

-Two recent passport size photos without glasses measuring 4×6 cm.

-An e-receipt of 30 euros for printing the new diploma

How long is each diploma category?

The new type of driving license has a duration of 15 years for categories AM, A1, A2, A, B, B1 and BE. After 15 years, it must be continuously renewed, every 15 years, until the driver reaches the age of 65.

For the remaining categories C, CE, C1, C1E, D, DE, D1 and D1E, the new driving license is valid for 5 years. Similarly, the driver will have to renew his license every 5 years until he turns 65.

From the age of 65 onwards, for all categories of diplomas, their validity may not exceed 3 years from the day of passing the examination of qualifications and conduct for the award of any category or from the day of renewal of the category; depending on the case.
