Harnessing Technology for Coral Reef Restoration: Samsung and seatrees Team Up
Samsung’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond product design and manufacturing. Recognizing the devastating impact of ocean-bound plastic on marine ecosystems, the company has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to restore vital coral reefs. Moreover, for the frist time in Galaxy history, the battery of the S25 model will be made with recycled cobalt sourced from previously used Galaxy smartphones. This ambitious initiative not only minimizes the environmental impact of device manufacturing but also reduces reliance on newly mined resources.
Recognizing the importance of addressing the plastic problem at its source, Samsung has already incorporated over 150 tonnes of discarded fishing nets into Galaxy products since the launch of the Galaxy S22 series in 2022.
