Abu Dhabi: UAE International Driving License can be used as an international travel document abroad. A one-year international driving record abroad is available to UAE driving license holders. You can drive in 175 countries including India with the UAE International Driving License. Those who have lost their passport can use International Driving License as a temporary travel document.
If you want to drive abroad, driving license of the respective countries is mandatory. Those who do not have a driving license can drive with a UAE international driving license. A driving license is also useful for getting insurance coverage in case of a vehicle accident.
The license can be applied for in person or online at UAE Emirates Post, Automobile and Tourism Club and International Motor Club. In person, the license will be available within half an hour. If you apply online, you will get the license within three to five working days.
To apply for a UAE driving license directly, it is enough to approach the Automobile and Tourism Club in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Ain and Sharjah and the Dnata office located on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. You can also apply for the license directly at the International Motoring Club at IT Plaza. The International Motoring Club is located in IT Plaza, Dubai Silicon Oasis.
Apply for the license through the Automobile and Tourism Club website http://www.atcuae ae/udl-international-driving-licence. Log on to the website and register your details including name, address and date of birth. Then enter the UAE ID and UAE Driving License details, upload the digital copy of both and pay. Registration fee is 170-200 dirhams.
