A 46-year-old driver avoided a police check in Vienna-Alsergrund on Saturday morning and raced through the city at up to 100 km/h. She endangered many other road users. In an intersection, she finally crashed into a stationary car, the two occupants were slightly injured. The woman did not have a driver’s license. She was under the influence of drugs. The 46-year-old was reported several times, the police reported on Sunday.
Around 11:30 a.m., police officers wanted to stop the woman’s vehicle in the Spittelauer Lände area. The driver ignored the police signals and accelerated. During her escape, the woman committed a number of administrative transgressions. Among other things, she drove through the local area at a maximum speed of around 100 km/h and also forced several road users to brake abruptly, the police reported in a broadcast.
The driver’s attempt to escape ended in a traffic accident in front of the Spittelauer Lände/Friedensbrücke intersection. It was jammed at the traffic light. The 46-year-old tried to brake and switch to another lane. Her car collided sideways with another vehicle. The occupants of the car, a 65-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, were slightly injured in the collision. They contracted headaches and neck pain and were taken to a hospital, police spokesman Daniel Fürst reported.
The 46-year-old driver was then checked. She does not have a valid driver’s license. An alcohol test was negative, but the woman was obviously impaired by addictive substances. A presentation to the medical officer was refused by the woman.
