Driver detained after RED system bus hits and kills child under 13 years old | National news

Carabineros are investigating a tragic accident in Lo Prado resulting in the death of a child under 13 years of age. The victim was crossing the street at a pedestrian crosswalk when a Red bus, belonging to the Metbus company and on route 511, made a turn onto Avenida Neptuno and hit the child. Emergency teams responded and rushed the victim to Félix Bulnes hospital, but the child later died due to the severity of their injuries. The Traffic Accident Investigation Section (SIAT) is working at the scene to determine the fault and cause of the accident. The bus driver has been detained and is available to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Carabineros investigates an accident resulting in the death of a Red bus to a child under 13 years of age in Lo Prado. The victim would have crossed through a crosswalk enabled for pedestrians and the driver was detained.

Carabineros investigates the alleged causes that triggered a run over and death of a minor in the commune of Lo Prado.

It was Friday followingnoon when a bus from the RED system, from the Metbus company and from route 511 was traveling west along Antarctic Territory street. When making a turn onto Avenida Neptuno, he ran over the 13-year-old victim who was crossing that intersection.

In the first instance, she was treated by the emergency teams at the scene, and then transferred through a SAMU ambulance to the Félix Bulnes hospital, where following a few minutes, he died as a result of the seriousness of the injuries.

This was confirmed by Captain Claudio Mejías, patrol officer of the western Santiago prefecture.

The Traffic Accident Investigation Section (SIAT) of the Carabineros worked at the scene and at the order of the prosecutor to determine the alleged responsibilities of those involved and the dynamics of what happened.

With respect to the bus driver, he was detained and available to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
