Often praised for its quality of life and very popular with its many students, Angers is nevertheless one of the worst cities for partying in France, according to a study by the site Top10DesCasinos.compublished on August 22, 2024.
The capital of Maine-et-Loire ranks 9th among the least festive cities, just ahead of cities like Amiens, Le Havre, Nîmes, Reims and Marseille.
This study, which gives Angers a “party score” of 65.5/100, is based on several criteria: the number of bars, nightclubs and casinos per km², the average price of a beer and a glass of wine, or the price of a taxi ride or a transport ticket.
High prices for a beer or a glass of wine
“Despite a relatively high density of bars (2.76 per km²) and a good number of nightclubs (0.23 per km²), prices are high, with a beer at €6.90 and a glass of wine at €6.02. These costs, combined with a moderate entertainment offering, place Angers on the list of cities least recommended for partying.”says the study, which focuses on the 30 largest cities in France.
According to Top10DesCasinos.com, Montpellier is also the party city in France, with a score of 85.19/100. It is ahead of Lille and Villeurbanne.
