THIRUVANANTHAPURAM ∙ The penalty charged by Bawridges Corporation has been reduced for employee defaults. 1000 times the fine has been reduced to 300 times. According to the circular of Bawco, if the amount is more than the MRP, the employees will be fined 1000 times of the excess amount. Even if one tries to promote another brand by avoiding it, the penalty is 1000 times the price difference.
The new order comes at a time when the High Court has stayed the order for 3 months to levy a fine of 1000 times the overcharged amount from the employees who bought more money than the MRP. The unions filed a petition in the court against the charge of Rs 1,40,000 from an employee of the Kattapana shop for charging Rs 140 more than the MRP. The organizations demand that fines should be completely waived.
The penalty is as follows:
∙ 100 percent fine of the difference amount if found more or less in cash at the counter
∙ Penalty of 300 times the amount charged for charging more than MRP
∙ 300 times penalty for deliberately avoiding one brand and trying to promote another brand
∙ Shop manager fined Rs 4000 for not displaying liquor brands
∙ Employees will be fined Rs 4000 for not accepting payment through card or UPI
∙ A fine of Rs 30,000 for consuming alcohol while working
∙ Theft, misappropriation of funds – 300 times the amount lost to the corporation
