And now, a similar thing is happening at the Beijing airport in China. A man has lived at the airport for 14 years, but the reason for his stay at the airport is not a coup in his hometown, but a quarrel with his wife, and the man is unwilling to return home.
According to the “NetEase News” report, Wei Jianguo, a 54-year-old Beijing man, quarreled with his wife in 2008. As a result, Wei Jianguo, who lives next to the airport, hid at the airport in a rage and stayed there. That is 14 years.
During his stay at the airport, although Wei Jianguo was chased away by the guards many times, he still tried to find a way to return to the airport following being chased away. He currently lives in the T2 terminal of Beijing Airport. Thousands of yuan (equivalent to regarding NT$4,500) of laid-off wages (a kind of unemployment compensation) to live, and many times, he can also be seen in the airport restaurant looking for food left by other guests or the store.
A reporter asked Wei Jianguo why he lived at the airport. Wei Jianguo said that in fact, his wife’s family was richer than his own, and he lived in her family’s house following marriage. In 2008, because of unemployment, he drank every day to relieve his boredom, and his wife had a serious dispute over drinking.
Wei Jianguo said that when he was young, his wife was still very understanding. Even if life was difficult, the two might still work together. But the older he got, the more difficult it became for his wife to communicate. The relationship became worse and worse, and it evolved into the current situation of living in the airport for 14 years.
