Lemon water has many benefits
Diet gurus recommend it: drink a glass of (lukewarm) water with some freshly squeezed lemon juice when you just wake up. We knew that drinking a glass of water in the morning it’s good for you, but apparently it’s even better to add a little lemon. But why is that exactly?
We have the answer!
Stimulus
Something to keep in mind is the fact that lemons are full of amazing and healthy things for your body. They contain vitamin B, C, potassium, proteins, antioxidants, calcium, magnesium and pectin. Pectin has a positive effect on your immune system, which means you’ll get sick less quickly. So that’s benefit number one.
Stomach empty
If you want to get the most out of your lemon water, it is important to drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. This way, it will be more effective when it comes to cleansing your body of toxins. In addition, it stimulates weight loss. That’s because your liver produces more bile if you drink the lemon water on an empty stomach. In turn, that leads you to be less hungry and digest food faster.
Oral hygiene
Drinking lemon water is also good for oral hygiene due to the acids that a lemon contains. These acids ensure that bacteria, as well as any leftover food you’ve eaten, are removed from your mouth. This will help counteract that white coating on your tongue and will also ensure better breath. And then, one more benefit: all the healthy things in lemons will also give your nails and skin a boost!
