Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — Some hot drinks are suitable for the cold weather in the winter season, most notably ginger drink, as this root plant has many benefits.

Ginger can aid in digestion, and it can also be a helpful remedy for nausea, pain relief, and inflammation.

Ginger also has an antimicrobial feature and helps prevent winter illnesses.

And the official account of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority indicated in a tweet on “Twitter” that ginger has uses in alternative medicine as well, and its uses include:

  • Reducing cold and flu symptoms
  • Reducing nausea and vertigo
  • Menstrual pain relief
  • Relieving digestive disorders
  • Stimulate blood circulation

However, the authority warned once morest excessive use of ginger, and recommended consuming a maximum of 2 to 4 grams of the fresh plant per day, noting that 250 grams of ground ginger is equivalent to one gram of fresh ginger.

Excessive use of ginger can cause these health problems:

  • heartburn
  • Diarrhea
  • Lowering blood sugar level
  • Heart palpitations

It should be noted that ginger also interferes with anticoagulant and anti-platelet medications, which may lead to bleeding.
