Dresden: Eveline won’t win the lottery for 3 years. BILD asks Post boss for help | Regional

For once in her life this woman is really lucky and then something like this happens…

Eveline H. (69) from Dresden typed five correct numbers twice in the lottery and won 9,842 euros. What a nice Christmas present. But: The pensioner was happy too soon! She should only get the money in THREE years.

What happened? Eveline sent the ticket by post to the lottery headquarters in Leipzig. By registered mail with return receipt! Play it safe – very sensible. But somehow the shipment gets lost in the letter and parcel center in Radefeld near Leipzig. Theft? sloppiness? Coincidence? Not clear.

Now she should wait. And wait. And wait. Until the end of 2025! She, the certified geriatric nurse and shorthand typist, who has been toiling all her life. Their daughter died young. Their other daughter has been paralyzed in a wheelchair since she was 14 following an operation on her back.

Rules are rules, say Post and Lotto. The Post offers the 25 euros intended for such cases. In the case of Lotto, it is the three-year period according to § 195 BGB that is referred to.

Please, dear Post boss (or dear Lotto boss): give your heart a push and make it possible for Eveline to receive her prize now. Best of all this year, best of all before Christmas.

The fact that the pensioner is so modest and willing to wait forever only shows how much she deserves happiness. At least this once.
