Angèle and the artist Metejoor were the big winners on Saturday evening of the Music Industry Awards (MIAs), the music prizes in Flanders, broadcast on VRT. They were each able to take home three awards. Angèle won in the “Pop” and “Solo Female Artist” categories, and also won “Hit of the Year 2021” with “Fever”, her duet with Dua Lipa. Metejoor came out on top in three categories.
Due to the health crisis, the Flemish music sector was unable to present its awards last year. This is why a double edition of the MIA’s took place on Saturday evening at Palais 12 in Heysel.
Angèle was nominated in six categories and, over the years, has already accumulated eleven MIAs.
Soulsister, the group of Paul Michiels and Jan Leyers, has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for their musical career. The artists received the award from Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.
During the ceremony, a tribute was also paid to Arno, who died last week.
