Kinshasa, March 15, 2024 – The Congolese business women’s network (REFEC) calls on the Congolese authorities to take into account, during appointments, women who master the workings of public companies instead of female politicians who come to learn the subject on the state.
This is the main message of this non-governmental organization carried by its coordinator Berthe Akakatshi Osako, on the occasion of the celebration of the women’s day of financial authorities, commercial companies, public establishments and public services of the State organized, Thursday March 14, in the red room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Kinshasa.
“We appeal to all authorities to count on all these female technicians who are not in politics but who have been mastering businesses for years. They are there and know the ropes to develop businesses that are today lame ducks“, she said.
According to him, often following the passage of female politicians, the results leave something to be desired. Furthermore, she says, women are generally indexed while those who have acquired experience for years within companies with the capacity to provide adequate responses are completely forgotten.
“But the woman who is in the company, the one who has worked for more than ten years, who has reached all levels of the company is there and available to serve the nation, to participate in the development of the company but unfortunately we don’t pay attention to the women who are inside the companies where we need to put women,” she lamented.
So for this NGO, everything that is said in the media in terms of equality between men and women is just a pipe dream.
“We see that people claim to favor women like their male colleagues in our business circles. We notice that the women who are appointed in our companies are not those who have mastered the matter but they are those who have evolved through their courage and self-sacrifice in political parties who come to the companies”, she remarked.
She made this observation in the presence of Councilor Willy Ilunga, representing the Minister of Gender. The latter promised to submit this concern to those concerned.
This ceremony saw the participation of several female members of Refec such as those of Bcc, Sonas, Onatra, Transco, Sonal, Dgi, Dgda, Onatra, Occ, Gecamines, Onem, Rtnc, Ovd, Dgdp, Ami-Congo, Ogefrel , Sonahydroc, Or.
