Kalemie, March 1, 2024: The National Agency for Clinical Engineering and Digital Health (ANICNS) officially launched the National Health Insurance Card (CNAM) as part of universal health coverage in the Democratic Republic of Congo .
The related ceremony was organized on Thursday February 29, 2024 in Kinshasa, during which the contract was signed between ANICNS and its partners (UBA and VISA).
“It is within the framework of the effectiveness of the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) that ANICNS has the responsibility of leading the digital transformation of the health system in the DRC, by delivering a biometric card to those with right to services”declared Jean Thierry Kalombo, general director of ANICNS.
He recognized the Head of State’s commitment to promoting access to health care for all Congolese citizens.
“It is under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, that the government of the DRC made a firm commitment to establish a Universal Health Coverage system to allow all Congolese to access health services. quality health care, while benefiting from financial protection”, he added.
This biometric and versatile card combines banking and health functionalities, offering numerous advantages, in particular it promotes the optimal care of beneficiaries of the Universal Health Coverage (CSU), improves the patient circuit in health care establishments. health and ensures effective management of health data, according to Mr. Kalombo.
For the Director General of ANICNS, the national health insurance card (CNAM) dematerializes health payment, establishes the concept of hospitals without papers and without tasks, simplifies the process of access to health services by offering unique identification and by facilitating the portability of the computerized patient record.
He indicated that the CNAM, through its implementation, offers an opportunity to raise awareness among the insurable community and stakeholders on the direct and indirect advantage resulting from its use such as the mobilization of additional resources to national solidarity organizations. supports the Health Solidarity Fund.
