DRC: “The invitation of the artist Koffi Olomide […] is one insult too many for our people” (Martin Fayulu)

The president of the political party Engagement pour la citoyenne et le développement (Ecidé), Martin Fayulu expressed his opinion, this Monday, July 15, 2024 in a publication on his X account, regarding the summons addressed to the musician Koffi Olomidé by the public prosecutor’s office at the Court of Cassation on Friday, July 12, 2024, the reasons for which remain unknown.

The said summons came following Koffi Olomide’s statements on the difficulties of the Congolese army in dealing with the Rwandan aggression that the country is suffering.

Martin Fayulu Madidi believes that this invitation “is an insult to the Congolese population, who are only demanding a response to the aggression.”

“The invitation of the musician Koffi Olomide to the public prosecutor’s office at the Court of Cassation is a distraction in bad taste and one insult too many for our people. Faced with the humiliations that we suffer every day and the threat of implosion that threatens our country, the Congolese people ask nothing better than to see their army respond powerfully once morest the aggression and drive out the enemies of our people rather than suffer episodes of intimidation. Albert Camus was right: Stupidity always insists,” we read on his X account.

As a reminder, the musician Koffi Olomide was summoned by the Higher Council for Audiovisual and Communication (CSAC) for an educational session, a few days before the invitation of the public prosecutor’s office at the Court of Cassation.
