Under the leadership of the Head of State, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, the Government of the Republic held its 10th meeting of the Council of Ministers on Friday, August 23, 2024.
During this weekly meeting of the National Executive, Prime Minister Judith Suminwa returned to three issues for which her team is sparing no effort, with a view to obtaining convincing results for the general interest of the population. These are the Mpox epidemic response plan; the strategic choices of the Government’s actions for the period from August to December 2024; and the development and publication of employment indicators.
Regarding the point concerning the Response Plan against Mpox, the Head of the National Executive recalled having personally led several working sessions during the week, which placed priority on the need to bring together the maximum possible resources, with a view to a holistic and efficient response.
On the instructions of the Prime Minister, a release of emergency funds, expected to reach up to 10 million USD, will be made in the following hours.
On the strategic choices of the Government’s actions for the period from August to December 2024, the Prime Minister recalled that the CCE – Economic Situation Committee -, meeting under her chairmanship, identified the need to prioritize investment spending, including the finalization of the first part of the PDL-145T – Local Development Program of the 145 Territories -, as well as the start of its second part, with the rehabilitation of agricultural service roads. As part of the strategic choices of the Government’s actions, national education will benefit from special attention with the financing, by the State’s own resources, of free basic education.
Regarding the development and publication of employment indicators, Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka noted the importance of these indicators, which will help strengthen the credibility of the macroeconomic framework and adjust the Government’s public policies, with a view to improving the social conditions of the population.
