The Congolese Liberation Movement (MLC) has reacted to the comments of Olive Lembe Kabila, wife of former President Joseph Kabila, whose residence was attacked this Wednesday morning by young people identified as members of the UDPS.
“We are disrespected all the time. We are constantly intimidated. People are used to attack us. Do you think you are eternal? Men pass away, the country will remain,” declared Olive Lembe Kabila.
She also pointed the finger at Jean-Pierre Bemba, accusing: “I personally accuse those who are at the root of the destruction of the security perimeter that was deployed around the residence of former President Joseph Kabila. This is the result of the wicked destruction that you have experienced here of the security perimeter of this residence. Big brother Bemba, that’s what I call you and you call me little sister. You see what selfishness has produced. You wanted to open the way for vehicles to pass through here to reach your construction site. Now, are you happy?”
In response, the MLC issued a statement through Raphael Kibuka, its spokesperson: “The MLC condemns the despicable attack on the residence of the former President of the Republic, but does not hide its indignation at the allegations of the latter’s wife implicating Jean-Pierre Bemba.
The MLC calls on the former First Lady to show restraint and responsibility.
