“Draymond Green Suspended for Game 3: Warriors’ Defensive General Forced to Sit Out”

Guilty of a bad move last night on Domantas Sabonis, Draymond Green mightn’t escape the patrol. The NBA felt the pit bull deserved punishment and suspended him for Game 3 between the Kings and Warriors.

This is a decision that may cause some teeth to cringe on the side of San Francisco. While Draymond Green had quickly tried to defuse things at the end of Game 2, the NBA did not appreciate the kick from inside the Warriors on the chest of Domantas Sabonis. The League has therefore decided to take action by suspending the player for the next meeting, Game 3 scheduled at the Chase Center.

This is bad news for the Dubs. Already led 2-0, the Warriors can not afford to leave weapons on the way when they have to go back to the score. To lose Green is to lose the team’s defensive general, an attacking facilitator and Domantas Sabonis’ personal bodyguard. Speaking of the Lithuanian, we imagine that the Warriors will undoubtedly complain regarding the severity of the decision, given that the Kings player had held Green’s foot before the act.

Interestingly, the NBA statement insists that Green’s history played into that decision. In short, Dray’s many vice moves in the past are catching up with him and putting his team in deep trouble as the next encounter will be crucial to the defending champion’s chances of survival. The player’s headaches with the public (under the eyes of Adam Silver, moreover) must not have helped either…

As in 2016 during the Finals, Green will therefore miss at a time when the Warriors badly need him. Be careful not to regret it in the event of a disaster scenario for Steve Kerr’s men.
