ALGIERS – The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered, during the meeting of the Council of Ministers which he chaired on Sunday, the elaboration of a “well defined and tied up” plan for the use of the waters of sewage treatment plants in agricultural irrigation and in industry, indicates a communiqué of the Council of Ministers.
Concerning the strategy for the use of water from treatment plants in agricultural irrigation and in industry, the President of the Republic has ordered the development of a well-defined and structured plan, which takes into account a number of indicators, said the same source.
This involves the precise determination of the level of water recovered according to the treatment process, and the definition of national needs, as well as a technical census of all the treatment plants that have broken down and those in service, in each municipality. and wilaya, in order to determine the production capacities, adds the same source.
It is also a question of registering the needs in terms of development of the automation of the sector, under the Government program, by prioritizing the wilayas which do not have wastewater treatment stations for irrigation purposes, in the instead of drawing groundwater, classified as a strategic reserve, but also setting a target of 40% of water recovered in the short term, to use it for agricultural and industrial purposes”, concludes the press release.
