A driver from Woluwe-Saint-Lambert lost control of his car on Sunday morning around 5:30 a.m., at the entrance to rue de Faux, in the Walloon Brabant entity of Court-Saint-Étienne.

The vehicle left its trajectory and ended its course once morest a low wall.

The driver was seriously injured. A 21-year-old from Ottawa, who was in the front passenger seat, died upon arriving at the Saint-Pierre clinic.

Two other passengers, who were in the back, also aged 21, respectively residing in Court-Saint-Etienne and Mont-Saint-Guibert, were slightly injured. They had the presence of mind to extract the driver and the occupant of the front seat shortly before the car burst into flames.

The expert appointed by the Walloon Brabant public prosecutor concluded that there was a combination of inappropriate speed and driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics.
