Four members of the committee – Jane Kær Rishøj (S), Ida Pedersen (S), Lene Kjelgaard Jensen (K) and Preben Dahlgaard (V) – had requested to have the election of the chairman of the committee placed as the first item on the agenda.

There are only five members of the committee, and therefore the chairman – DF’s Ib Poulsen – could probably already feel the chair burning under him before the meeting.

When the meeting was over, a new chairman had also been elected – the cap landed on the head of the previous deputy chairman, namely the left-winger Preben Dahlgaard.

This is stated by the new chairman for Nordjyske.

However, he is a little more sparse with the information when it comes to the reason for the decision.

– The reason is that we wanted a new profile on the post. The old chairman did not vote for the budget either, and he did not participate in the budget seminar with the rest of the city council either, says the left-wing man.

– But otherwise you don’t get me to say a lot of negative things. We look forward, he adds.

With the removal of the position of chairman, Ib Poulsen also loses a remuneration of just over 260,000 kroner – a good quarter of a million kroner, which now goes to Preben Dahlgaard, as there is still a year until the next municipal election.

However, remuneration is paid to a committee chairman who ceases to hold office after at least one year – however, it is not clear from the agenda how much money it is.

– But as far as I’m concerned, it has nothing to do with the money. My interest is in conveying a broad collaboration, says Preben Dahlgaard.

Ib Poulsen was part of the constitutive agreement that made Niels Jørgen Pedersen (V) mayor three years ago.

But according to the new committee chairman, it is completely by the book that you can choose to change the chairman of a committee during an election period.

Pursuant to the Local Government Act § 22, subsection 1, it also appears that the standing committees themselves choose their chairman.

“A standing committee can choose a new chairman at any time, and each member can submit a proposal for a change of chairman for committee consideration”, it states.

Nordjyske has not yet managed to get a comment from Ib Poulsen.
