The producer of the play, inspired by the popular Turkish play Ertugrul Ghazi, which covers the story of the establishment of the Ottoman Caliphate, on the conqueror of Al-Quds, Sultan Salah al-Din Ayubi, says that this play represents the idea of humanity, religious tolerance and equality of the Golden Islamic Age. Dr. Kashif Ansari says that there is an ideology and thought behind this play.
“The American society in which I live is an ideal society where humanity is valued, there is no discrimination on the basis of race and color, there is religious freedom and tolerance, and human rights are respected.”
He says that this is what the Qur’an teaches us, but in the present world society there is a lack of religious tolerance, the element of intolerance has prevailed. For the supremacy of human values, lessons must be learned from the golden Islamic periods of the past and the reflection of this past will be seen in the play Salahuddin.
In response to a question, Dr. Kashif Ansari said that this drama, made at a cost of three billion rupees under the joint production of America, Turkey and Pakistan, will be the most expensive drama in the history of Urdu dramas.
“25% of the cast of the play has been selected from Pakistan and the selection has been made on absolute merit, so criticism of the choice of actors is unjustified.” Majority of the leading actors of Pakistan did not participate in the audition of the drama, so their selection did not take place.
