Dragon’s Dogma 2 receives very high ratings in reviews, but some people’s mood may be spoiled by the game’s high hardware requirements.

Some reviews of the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 state that the game puts a heavy load on the processor, which makes it difficult to achieve higher animation smoothness. The topic was raised by, among others, IGN and Capcom responded that the game’s developers are trying to find a way to optimize this technical aspect of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, significant CPU power is devoted to calculations related to each character and their physical impact on the environment. In some situations, when multiple characters are on screen at once, CPU usage can be very high, which has a negative impact on the smoothness of the animation. We are aware that in such situations, reducing graphics settings that relieve the GPU has a limited effect. We are currently exploring ways to improve the game’s performance,” a Capcom spokesperson said.

Optimizations would also be useful on consoles. There is no shortage of complaints regarding Dragon’s Dogma 2 in the early reviews uneven framerate on PS5 and XSX – particularly in areas like Vernworth.

The Xbox Series S version of the game is particularly problematic. Dragon’s Dogma 2 suffers from RAM shortages, which leads to, for example, to incorrectly loading textures or displaying textures in very low quality. Even the RTX 4090 with an AMD 5800X3D processor sometimes drops frames around 30 fps in more populated cities (in 4K resolution).
