Based on Capcom’s history alone, it’s highly likely that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will receive some kind of expansion, just like the original Dragon’s Dogma got Dark Arisen. However, the gaming community has some information hinting at the appearance of DLC. As noted on Redditmany players are convinced that the game itself points to an imminent expansion.
To begin with, the open world RPG has a lot of references to the “north country”, be it in character dialogue or item descriptions. These are the kind of breadcrumbs that developers leave in games over generations.
On top of that, the game seems to be missing some key monsters – monsters that have weapon and armor designs based on them, but aren’t actually in the game. A major example of this is the Hydra, a recurring boss enemy in the first Dragon’s Dogma. The multi-headed beast simply doesn’t appear in the sequel.
There are also ancient doors. These entrances, scattered across the map, are currently blocked by either rubble or dirt, but it actually seems like they should lead to something. It’s possible that these doors are just remnants of cut content, but it’s easy to see why players would think they’re hinting at additional adventures given their respective locations. Indeed, some of them lead to the edges of the open world.
