Draft NBA 2021: Detroit first choice, Houston second and the Warriors well off

Detroit can have a smile. If the Phoenix Suns won the only game of the evening in the playoffs, the Pistons are the other big winners of this Tuesday evening in the NBA. The Michigan franchise inherited the first pick for the next draft, which will take place on July 29. And to accompany Killian Hayes and co, she might recover Cade Cunningham, the rear of Oklahoma State who is presented as the phenomenon of the next vintage following shooting 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the NCAA.

Behind the Pistons, who will offer themselves a Top 5 player for the first time since 2003 when they selected Darko Milicic in second position, it is the Houston Rockets, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors who will be able to make their choice. In full reconstruction following dropping Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon, Orlando has two nice choices: the 5th and 8th that the Magic recovers from the Bulls. But the Warriors are not to be pitied either.

Golden State is certainly not in the Top 5. However, the Warriors have the 14th choice but also the 7th! The Bay franchise gets this pick from Minnesota due to a clause in the D’Angelo Russell trade. After having already registered the reinforcement of James Wiseman last year, the Warriors will thus be able to add two new promising players to support Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson (who will return from injury) and Draymond Green. Or use it as currency for a trade, just to afford a more experienced element capable of helping them become contenders for the title once more.
