Al-Nimr added: “For those who asked regarding hyena meat as a treatment for the kidneys:
It is widespread in some African tribes that hyena meat is a cure for diabetes, kidneys, sexual impotence, expels evil spirits, magic, etc.
Medically, we do not recommend eating hyena meat because it is susceptible to malaria, rabies, tapeworms, etc. Treatments for kidney disease are available locally and are safe according to the diagnosis.
Al-Nimr warned of the necessity of not eating wild hyena and hyena meat, in order to preserve public health.
