The board of directors of the EPS Salud Total appointed Dr. Jorge Alberto Tamayo Saldarriaga as its new president as of September 4 (Also read: These are the EPS with the most (and least) users in Colombia).
This was announced through a statement in which they describe the professional career of Salarriaga, who has 25 years of experience in different strategic, managerial and insurance positions in the Colombian health sector.
“Dr. Tamayo’s great challenges are to continue positioning the EPS within the largest health insurers in Colombia, in order to continue providing quality health services through a wide, modern and comprehensive delivery network to the most of 4.8 million users that the company has and the almost 20,000 affiliates of Complementary Plans,” Salud Total said in a statement.
Saldarriaga graduated as a doctor from the University of Antioquia, studied health economics and finance at the Pontificia Bolivarian University, and did a specialization in Health Auditing at the CES University (Don’t miss: This is the heart of the reform to the health that Petro wants: Will the EPS enter?).
Since the 1990s, he has worked in insurance matters and, for 13 years, he was the National Quality Manager of EPS Sura. Saldarriaga was also manager of the new Sagrado Corazón clinic in Medellín and had already held a position for 11 years at Salud Total, from 2011 to 2022 as technical and health vice president.
