The 30-year-old star reflected following doing “so much to gain approval and love from others” she looks to the future with fresh eyes.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight,’ she admitted she found herself wondering, “Why? It doesn’t matter and it’s not going to make you love yourself more. It’s not the case.”
Drawing lessons from her life experience and the maturity of her 30s, she “takes the time to heal and focus on herself and what she wants to do”.
She added, “What I really want to do, not for the sake of others but for myself. It’s really nice.”
She noted that a lot of things “changed” with her birthday in
August, and her priorities have changed such as she is “softer” and kinder to herself.
She explained, “I think following turning 30 there was a lot of clicks. I think my 20s were brilliant, but there were a lot of different things I wanted to focus on.
“I think there was a part of me that still felt, like, I was insecure in my teens, questioning myself and kinda doubting myself all the time.
“[Mais] is it a real thing that women are in their prime in their 30s? I don’t care now.
“I’m much more gentle with myself and kinder to myself and I think something has changed this year for sure.”
Ahead of her 30th birthday, Cara revealed that she can’t wait to reach that milestone age.
She said: “Getting older is so nice. I’m so excited, but call me on D-Day and find out how I’m doing – I’m probably going to cry”.
