A new attack attributed to ADF rebels affiliated with the Islamic State group killed more than 40 people overnight from Wednesday to Thursday in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, according to local authorities. The ADF (Allied Democratic Forces) are originally Ugandan rebels who have been rooting since the mid-1990s in eastern DRC where they are accused of having massacred thousands of civilians. In Gabon, a ferry linking the capital Libreville to the oil port of Port-Gentil sank. At least two people including a child are dead and the chances of finding 28 others missing are dwindling. In Tunisia President Kais Saïed announced that he was going to dissolve the municipal councils. He is already widely criticized for having assumed full powers following an institutional coup announced in a video broadcast in the middle of the night, “the replacement of these municipal councils by special delegations”. The terms of mayors and municipal councilors were due to expire at the end of April. Elections had to be organised.
