When Democratic Progressive Party legislator Cai Shiji ran for the mayor of Keelung, he was questioned regarding plagiarism in his thesis. The review committee of Taipei University completed the review yesterday. Cai Shiyi said earlier that he had been informed of the revocation of the doctoral degree. He issued a five-point statement, emphasizing that he would file a complaint in accordance with the law.
Taipei University stated that the school has completed the review of the case of Mr. Cai Shiji’s doctoral dissertation review and notified the parties concerned of the review result. If the parties have any objections, they can file a complaint in writing with specific facts and reasons to the school within 15 days following receiving the notice, and the appeal will be handled in accordance with the regulations.
Cai Shiji expressed his deep apology on Facebook, and pointed out that he spent nearly 10 years completing his doctoral dissertation, and only 2% of the same documents were compared with each other, which is original. However, some external review committee members still considered plagiarism and revoked my doctoral thesis due to the omission of some notes in this paper.
Cai Shiji said that he respects the deliberation results of the Xuelun Association, and once once more apologized for the omission of some notes in this article, but in order to protect his rights and interests, he will file a complaint according to law.
