In this twenty-second version, the nominations reached a historical record with 32,624 applications, which translated into 1,386 unique names of applicants for the award, which were categorized and delivered to the respective juries for evaluation. Applications were received throughout the month of August through the Emol and Mujeres Empresarias platforms.
The deliberation was carried out in five sessions by five different juries – one per category – made up of prominent businessmen, union leaders, representatives of academia, civil society, the private and public sector, sponsoring companies and women who have obtained more than 10 nominations.
The Dr. Ana María Moraga is a medical epidemiologist, currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Chilean Society of Epidemiology (Sochepi) and during her professional career she has implemented and promoted Population Cancer Registries in the Biobío Region and other regions of the country, registries that are today recognized and validated by the World Health Organization, WHO and that allow us to better define, plan and evaluate public policies to confront this disease.
It is also part of the National Cancer Commission, whose objectives are to advise the Ministry of Health on compliance with the Cancer Law and the planning and development of the National Cancer Plan. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was part of the MINSAL External Advisory Committee for the management of the pandemic, as the only member outside the Metropolitan Region.
In both instances of national representation, she has been able to contribute from the perspective of an expert from a region other than the Metropolitan Region, enriching the country’s vision in addressing such important problems, with realities specific to other regions that are often not identified. entirely from Santiago.
In the academic field, being a Master in Education in Health Sciences, he has decades teaching Epidemiology to undergraduate Medicine students and in several postgraduate programs at the University of Concepción, with national scope, where his contribution has been to integrate the method epidemiological in the approach that health professionals and other areas give to the health situations that they must analyze and resolve.
In each of the areas in which she participates and has participated, Dr. Moraga highlights the decentralized perspective, the contribution that can be made from all regions to provide a better solution to the country’s health problems, and especially now. , to the contribution of female leadership, necessary to achieve a balance of approaches and opportunities.
