Dr. Al-Rabiah reviews the efforts of the King Salman Relief Center to support the health of mothers and children

Yesterday, a high-level session was held at the headquarters of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) entitled: “Saving Lives… Responding to Reproductive Health in Humanitarian Situations,” with the participation of His Excellency the Advisor to the Royal Court and the General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah, and the Director of General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund, Dr. Natalia Kanem, on the sidelines of the activities of the United Nations General Assembly at its 78th session in New York City.

During his intervention in the session, His Excellency explained that the King Salman Relief Center paid special attention to reproductive health programs, as the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals Initiative, noting that the Center implemented many humanitarian projects in cooperation with United Nations agencies and international and local community organizations, at a total cost of more than $100. One million dollars, with the aim of providing reproductive health services to pregnant women, girls and children in many countries; By supporting reproductive health centers and primary health units, by providing medical personnel and taking care of operational costs, medicines and medical supplies, in addition to equipping the centers with the necessary medical equipment to provide integrated service to the beneficiaries.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabiah added that the King Salman Relief Center supported the infrastructure of health facilities to be able to provide reproductive health services in a safe manner by building and equipping operating rooms, the neonatal intensive care unit, and emergency departments, and expanding the scope of providing reproductive health services in remote and deserted areas of the country. By deploying mobile teams that roam these areas in countries suffering from humanitarian crises, natural disasters, epidemics, and other difficult circumstances, in addition to increasing the capacity of health workers and health institutions through training, quality control frameworks, and information systems.

At the conclusion of his speech, His Excellency the General Supervisor of the King Salman Relief Center indicated that the Center will continue to support reproductive health as an integral part of its health interventions, especially in vulnerable countries and communities in cooperation with United Nations organizations.
