The Korea Communications Standards Commission decided to block access to the channel related to the re-emerged North Korean propaganda channel YouTuber ‘Yumi’.

The Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCC) held a meeting of the Communications Standards Subcommittee (Communications Subcommittee) on the 26th and decided to block access to two video channels related to YouTuber ‘Yumi’, who promoted the North Korean regime by showing her daily life in a vlog style. The YouTube channel ‘Olivia Natasha’, where Yumi appeared but was known to have been deleted, was dismissed.

The Secretariat of the National Defense Commission said, “This is an issue in which videos from channels that were shut down at the 39th Communications Subcommittee last year were reposted or videos with similar content were posted, except for the women who appeared.”

According to the Secretariat, the National Intelligence Service said, “Considering the Internet environment in North Korea, the relevant information is a system propaganda channel operated to connect with the outside of North Korea, not inside North Korea, and all posts are directed to South Korea, including propagating that Pyongyang is good for living and that the North Korean system is excellent.” “This is typical information regarding violating the National Security Act and is related to psychological warfare.”

Regarding the ‘Olivia Natasha’ channel, which was previously known to have been deleted, the secretariat said, “We confirmed that the channel was voluntarily closed on the 22nd and all information was deleted.”

According to YTN, the ‘Olivia Natasha’ channel, which was closed in June of last year, was newly joined on July 17 of last year and has been irregularly uploading videos introducing her daily life in English. Recently, on the 4th of last month, he posted a video regarding spending time with family, friends, and relatives ahead of the new year of 2024.

In a related video, Yumi showed herself enjoying rides at an amusement park in Pyongyang’s Jung-gu district, eating cold noodles or sturgeon at Okryugwan and a seafood market, and revealing upper-class lifestyles that most North Koreans cannot afford, such as learning horseback riding or ballet. It was criticized as ‘propaganda for the system’.
