RESEARCHER at the Indonesian Parliament Concerned Community Forum (Formappi) for Budget, Yohanes Taryono, said that the role of the Chair of the Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani, was apparently not able to increase the number of members attending meetings or sessions. He conveyed this at a press conference evaluating the performance of the DPR RI at the Formappi office in East Jakarta, Monday (13/5).
The presence of DPR members at plenary meetings (rapur), he said, always raises question marks. The problem, apart from the lack of presence of DPR members in the rapur, is also due to the issue of members not having permission to attend the rapur.
“The agenda for the rappur meeting was of course planned well in advance and each member of the DPR was certainly given a proper invitation. “However, many DPR members are still absent from the meeting,” said Taryono.
“Until now, the DPR leadership has not been able to increase the attendance of DPR members at meetings, especially plenary sessions. “In fact, the presence of members at every meeting is very important,” he added.
On average, during this IV session, only 294 people or 51.13% attended rapur. Even if the member who has permission is included in the attendance category.
“Then where are the other members of the DPR? “When compared with the average attendance in Session Period III, which was only attended by 291 (50.61%), then the average attendance in Session Period IV increased only slightly,” he stressed.
However, if DPR members who have permission are not included in the ‘present’ category, then none of the report cards will meet the quorum (majority of members).
“It seems that many members of the DPR do not or do not yet appreciate the importance of a rapport which is actually a forum for making decisions that concern the fate of the entire Indonesian people and nation,” he concluded. (Dis/Z-7)
