COMMISSION III of the DPR plans to summon the Supreme Court (MA) and the Judicial Commission (KY) during the upcoming session to discuss the acquittal of Ronald Tannur, the defendant in the murder case of Dini Sera Afriyanti.

“During the next session, we will schedule a special meeting with the KY and also invite the Supreme Court to discuss this case,” said Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (29/7).

Habiburokhman also urged immigration and law enforcement officials to prevent Ronald from leaving the country. This is because the case does not yet have permanent legal force or is final.

“Because the legal process has not yet become final, it would be in vain if the defendant had already left Indonesia when the decision was made,” added Habiburokhman.

Chief Justice Erintuah Damanik, decided to acquit Gregorius Ronald Tannur of the murder charge of Dini Sera Afriyanti in a trial at the Surabaya District Court (PN) on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Damanik emphasized that the son of the PKB politician had not been proven legally and convincingly to have committed murder or assault resulting in the victim’s death.

“The defendant was not proven legally and convincingly according to the charges of Article 338 of the Criminal Code concerning murder, Article 351 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code, or Article 359 of the Criminal Code and 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code,” said Damanik.

Damanik also ordered the Public Prosecutor (JPU) to immediately release the defendant from detention after the verdict was read.

“Ordering to release the defendant immediately after this verdict is read,” he said.

Previously, Public Prosecutor (JPU) Ahmad Muzzaki demanded the defendant be sentenced to 12 years in prison based on charges of Article 338 of the Criminal Code on murder. (Z-10)
