Dozens of cars vandalized on the night of August 15th: “There is a lack of healthy entertainment”

A nasty surprise awaited many motorists the morning after the night of Ferragosto in Lido di Dante. At least ten cars were damaged by unknown vandals in Viale Paolo e Francesca, near the intersection with Viale Catone. Various damages were reported: tires removed, doors scratched, windows and rear windows broken. Similar incidents had already occurred in the area in spring. The Conchigliera, a work of art that had been present on the naturist beach for some time, was also demolished.

A public order problem that, for the president of the Pro Loco of Lido di Dante, Andrea Scarabelli, is also linked to the lack “of being able to have fun and let off steam with activities such as amusement parks and arcades”. Activities, Scarabelli specifies, “for which it is increasingly complex to ask for permits. Therefore we are no longer able to offer this healthy and alternative, controlled entertainment, such as bonfires on the beach supervised by volunteer associations. The complication of bureaucracy and the naturist beach in total anarchy lead to a set of actions that result in delinquency and vandalism”.
