The Dour festival continues this weekend. Police checks too. This Friday, no less than 51,500 festival-goers were counted on the wind turbine site. As much to write that the teams are not idle to ensure that the festivities take place as well as possible.
Thus, on Friday, during a roadside check organized by the Boraine police zone, a vehicle was marked by a drug squad dog. Inside the vehicle was a fitted cover, which could be opened using an electrical system to be operated by various manipulations. The police finally discovered 30 grams of cocaine, two precision scales, bags for packaging, a mobile phone and 1,125 euros. Two searches were carried out in connection with the flagrante delicto. They led to the discovery of 5138 euros. The two occupants were arrested.
A festival-goer was arrested for his part. The latter, brought back to the reception of the festival by the internal security service, was in possession of two sachets containing 20 pacsons of MDMA and 25 of ketamine. The individual claimed that another festival-goer would have entrusted them to him, against a pacson of ketamine, and would have promised 50 euros after passing through the security gates.
It should also be noted that suspicious actions – an attempt to steal from the vehicles – were noticed in the “crew” parking lot. Footage taken by the camera of another vehicle parked nearby was passed on to the police. An investigation is underway. An administrative arrest was ordered at the end of the evening for disturbing public order at the advanced medical post and two cases of reciprocal blows and injuries are to be regretted.
On the traffic side, vehicles were driving slowly from 2:30 p.m. In an attempt to smooth traffic, vehicles were directed to additional parking entrances. But the influx was such that this device did not resolve the traffic jams, which lasted until around 9:30 p.m., mainly at the level of the N51 and the N552. The police believe that this was the main black spot of the day on Friday but still stresses that no major incident was to be deplored.
At the level of police checks, they were coordinated between the Boraine police zone, the customs service and the tax control brigade of the Walloon Region. 128 vehicles, three buses and 152 people were checked. 13 drivers were under the influence (7 under narcotics, 6 under alcohol). 10 of them had their permits withdrawn for a period of 15 days.
Two insurance defects and one technical inspection defect were noted. Three vehicles were removed. Ultimately, 14 court reports were drawn up and two court arrests ordered. In terms of drugs, police seized 44.2 grams of marihuana, 32.09 grams of cocaine, 2 XTC pills, 6 grams of ketamine, a joint and a weapon. 1,250 euros were recovered via immediate transactions for possession of narcotics. The tax service recovered 9,799 euros and customs 3,194 euros.
1,151 entries have been recorded at the advanced medical post and 32 people evacuated since the start of the festival. This Friday, a person had to be intubated and ventilated for toxicological problems. His condition is now stabilized.
