After Nouakchott, Bamako and Ouagadougou, the joint United Nations mission is in Guinea. Taking advantage of this visit, the United Nations Special Coordinator for Development in the Sahel, Mr. Abdoulaye Mar Dieye, gave his opinion on the speech given by Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya on the occasion of the 78th ordinary session of the UN in New York.
From the outset, the UN diplomat first informed the transition authorities that the idea of their presence in the Republic of Guinea during this transition period is to see how the United Nations can support development processes. in the countries of the sub-region which, according to him, “are rebuilding towards a better future”.
For Mr. Abdoulaye Mar Dieye, ECOWAS member countries must refer to the Republic of Guinea to move away from the beliefs of the past.
“The brilliant speech by President Mamadi Doumbouya from the United Nations platform defines a working framework for us. If all the countries in the sub-region and elsewhere subscribe to this orientation that the president has given, I think that we will emerge with the convictions that we have known in the past. The future is very bright in the region and Guinea will play a central role in this reappropriation of our past and the definition of our future.
