Doukas on Peloponnisos Fm: “We beat the system once, we can do it again.”

The tour of Achaia by the mayor of Athens and presidential candidate Harry Doukas has ended. He found himself in Erymanthos and the historic Kalendzi, where he had the opportunity to meet with friends of PASOK, while later he had a series of contacts with productive bodies of the prefecture.

Early in the morning, Mr. Doukas spoke to Peloponnisos FM. “I see a glow in the eyes of the people and their presence, despite the heat, gives me strength” said Mr. Doukas, obviously satisfied with yesterday’s events in Aigio and Patras.

He emphasized in certain points of his interview with Dimitris Triantafyllopoulos and Apostolos Anastasopoulos:

-What did the people convey to you following the speeches in Agios and Patras?
People told me that they have heard words many times. We have to be more radical and clean, go back to basics and fundamentals. As I left I saw excitement in the people. I have clear positions and opinions. I want those who listen to me to know what I want to do in the country. I answer the questions I hear and I think everyone should do that.

-What’s the stake?
Do we want a PASOK that takes small steps forward and looks like it is stagnant, or a PASOK that can make a leap bigger than wear and tear? A closed and often phobic PASOK or an open, unifying, institutional, democratic PASOK?

-A comment on the poll?
The main features I saw in Western Greece are what I get from the country as a whole. We have before us a very interesting battle with Nikos Androulakis. My goal is to strengthen my influence in the world of PASOK which until now had a profile of me, a professor who became the mayor of Athens and is looking to find my political characteristics. I estimate that speaking in every neighborhood of the country, many people will identify with our direction.

-Many say that PASOK is finished. Can we see it once more in their historical rates?
Many times they have discounted it as dead. We have to get out of the cycle of survival and into the cycle of victory, the cycle of transcendence. That is why we must have in our hearts and minds that the goal is not 13-15%, but to be the main catalyst to change the course and direction of the country. To be a clear government choice.

-You spoke of an excess. Can this be done with the forces of PASOK alone or with wider collaborations?
With the forces of the wider democratic faction, the call must be broad in order to be okay within ourselves. Mr. Mitsotakis cannot lose with his party 13-15%. If we stay there, we will eventually become a component.
We must make a broad call to all progressives and democrats who did not let us down during the difficult years, those who want to go home.

-“Doukas beat Bakoyannis, so he can also beat Mitsotakis”. Does it apply Mr. Duke?
I believe that. We beat the system once, we can do it once more.
