The event took place on Sunday at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, where the Carabobo native made his debut in major world competitions at the age of 41.

China’s Yuehong Lee emerged as the top shooter in the preliminary round with a score of 588-30x. He was followed by his compatriot Xingjie Wang, who finished with a score of 587-24x.

After the Asian duo, Ukrainian Pablo Korostylov appeared, who achieved a record of 587-17x after making his attempts.

South Korea’s Jeonjae Cho (586-22x total), Italy’s Massimo Spinella (586-19x) and Germany’s Florian Peter (585-27x) finished in fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively.

Reality of athletes

Through the official portal of the most important global event, it was revealed that the occupants of the first six places have direct access to the Grand Final that will be held on Monday.

After failing to make the cut in a demanding precision shooting event, Gómez saw his participation in Paris 2024 come to an end, where he was one of two natives who saw action during the Sunday round.

The other representative of the Birthplace of Liberator Simón Bolívar was Rosa Rodríguez, who advanced to the decisive stage of the women’s hammer throw.
