Doudou de Mons: crowd success for the descent of the Châsse de Sainte-Waudru

The crowd was present en masse this Saturday to attend the descent of the Shrine of Sainte-Waudru, kick-off of the Doudou festivities in Mons. It is a symbolic moment when the relics of Sainte-Waudru, considered the founder of the city of Monsare transmitted from the Dean, representative of the religious authority, to the mayor, guard of the communal authority.

Fixed on a stretcher, the Châsse is lowered then carried in a procession, in order to be placed in the Car d’Or of the Collegiate Church, in the evening. A great moment of emotion for the Montois, especially this year, following two Doudou canceled following the coronavirus epidemic.
