Doubs: A lynx killed in the French Jura, poacher hunt launched

The corpse of a boreal lynx was found on September 16, in the canton of Frasne (Doubs). Those responsible for this offense risk a maximum sentence of 3 years and a fine of €150,000.

The Doubs departmental service of the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB) was informed on September 16 of the presence of the body of a lynx in the canton of Frasne (Doubs). The autopsy revealed that the animal was illegally killed by firearm, reports the foundation KORA.

A judicial inquiry has been opened under the authority of the Public Prosecutor of Besançon to identify the poachers. The culprits risk up to 3 years in prison and a fine of €150,000.
