The number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul surpassed 20,000 in 98 days.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 25th that the number of new confirmed cases as of 9 p.m. was tentatively counted at 23,159.

This is 3.9 times the number of confirmed cases of 5967 on the previous day on the weekend, the highest since April 13 (24,970). It is the first time in regarding 14 weeks since April 18 (21,814) that the number exceeded 20,000.

The number of daily confirmed cases in Seoul, which soared to 128,352 on March 16, gradually decreased from the end of April, and even dropped to 599 on June 26.

After entering the 2000s, there was a ‘doubling’ phenomenon, increasing to around 4,000 in the second week of July and around 9,000 in the third week of July.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the city of Seoul is gradually increasing the number of temporary screening centers. Additional beds are being secured, and the number of ‘one-stop medical institutions’ that can test, treat, and prescribe is continuously increasing.
