The Puglia case is enriched by a sensational political-judicial twist. The president of the Democratic Party of the region Michele Emiliano would have notified Alfonsino Pisicchio, the former extraordinary commissioner of the Arts whom the governor had appointed in December 2023, of the ongoing investigations. Pisicchio himself reported this during the guarantee interrogation, in which he would also have presented chats he had with Emiliano himself. A turning point which, net of the possible judicial consequences, triggers political controversy. “From the news it appears that President Emiliano was aware of a criminal investigation once morest Pisicchio. And from what we read Emiliano suddenly said to Pisicchio: resign or I’ll kick you out”, summarizes Matteo Renzi, leader of Italia Viva. Who then attacks: “If the facts correspond to the truth, it is a double scandal.”
There are therefore two points to underline. “1. Did anyone among the investigators inform Emiliano? How did Emiliano know regarding the investigation?”, lists Renzi. “2. Emiliano uses the information received to manage political relations in Puglia. And he does so in an arrogant and violent way. Puglia will never change as long as it is governed by Michele Emiliano and those like him”, concludes the former prime minister.
Meanwhile, the lawyer Salvatore D’Aluiso, Pisicchio’s lawyer, tells LaPresse that “the precautionary needs do not exist and this is why we will resort to the review. Pisicchio ended up under house arrest together with his brother Enzo and three other suspects. Contested, a various titles, the hypotheses of crimes of corruption, forgery, disrupting the freedom of auctions, issuing invoices for non-existent operations and illicit financing of parties.
