Double Ninth Festival: Honoring Ancestors at Chai Wan Cemetery with New Escalator Access

2023-10-23 07:05:23

Today (23rd) is the Double Ninth Festival, and it is also a day when filial sons and grandsons go to the mountains to worship their ancestors and miss their loved ones. At cemeteries in different areas, citizens were seen carrying large and small packages of offerings up the mountain.

In Chai Wan, the pedestrian passage connecting Chai Wan San Ha Street and Cape Collinson San Ha Columbarium was officially opened last Thursday (19th). Members of the public can take the escalator from San Ha Street to the cemetery and arrive at Collinson Columbarium. Go to Chen Kok Road and then go to the cemetery. There is no need to walk up the mountain along the slope of Liancheng Road. The elevator opening hours are from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm every day, and will be extended to 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on the Double Ninth Festival.

Many citizens carried sacrifices and went to the cemetery to pay homage to their loved ones and express their longing for their deceased friends. As for the Chai Wan Cemetery special bus route that has always provided services during the Spring and Autumn Festival, there are still many “supporters” today.
