Double defeat for Destribats in Croatia: “I’m having a hard time getting up to speed”

The Cordovan Agustín Destribats, top figure of the Argentine wrestling team and Olympic representative in Tokyo 2020, was eliminated yesterday in the repechage of the Zagreb Open Ranking Series 2023, from the capital of Croatia, in his second international competition of the year.

“It is not being the start of the year that I expected, I feel that it is difficult for me to catch the rhythm of a few months ago,” acknowledged the Cordovan in a post on his social networks.

Destribats, born on October 30, 1997 in the Cordovan capital, lost 11-0 in the 65-kilo category -freestyle- in the round of 16, with Tulga Ochir from Mongolia, silver medalist at the 2021 World Cup in Norway and winner of the gold medal in this contest.

Then, the champion of the Odesur Asunción 2022 Games was defeated 15-14 by the American Richard Hensderson, who won the bronze medal.

“I will continue working to improve. But first, I think it’s time to think and analyze,” concluded the Cordovan, who in 2020 won the bronze medal in the 61-kilo category at the Wrestling World Cup in Belgrade, Serbia, in what meant the only Latin American podium in the contest.

Destribats will compete once more in the Ranking Series of Egypt, from the 21st to the 27th of this month.
