Douais Artists’ Show: A Celebration of Imagination and Creativity

2023-11-05 15:18:26

The Douais artists’ show has become a major element of Douais cultural life.

Like every year, this artistic event offers a wide range of techniques, styles and themes of inspiration through around a hundred works by 60 artists, all members of the association of Douais artists chaired by Yves Cairoli. This year, the two guest artists of honor are the sculptor Joël Sadaune and the painter Daniel Levigoureux.

Daniel Levigoureux was born in 1945 in Liévin. Trained in stained glass techniques from 1964 to 1967 at the Ecole des Métiers d’Art in Paris, he was first tempted by geometric abstraction, then became interested in figurative landscape painting. He always uses the same method: driving around in his workshop van, with his eyes on the alert, with the sole aim of seeing! See a reality that gives rise to a drawing, a painting. Paintings are started on site and completed in the studio. Colors above all!

Ode to imagination

As for Joël Sadaune, an artist from the north of France, he began to develop artistic work focused on the recovery and repurposing of obsolete objects. Inspired by surrealism and modern tales, Joël Sadaune creates works whose absence of human presence allows the viewer to immerse themselves in these sculptures, which are quite simply vectors of personal stories. Joël Sadaune’s creations are an ode to imagination, creativity and poetry.

The exhibition will be visible in the Anchin galleries from November 11 to 19, every day from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sundays and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Opening Friday November 10 at 7 p.m.
